As part of Chicago Fashion Week, join us for a one-of-a-kind cultural experience celebrating the rich textile heritage of the Mayan tradition. Hosted at the National Museum of Mexican Art and presented in collaboration with Muuch Creative, Úuchben Bordado Textil, and renowned artisan Blanca Itzá, this full-day workshop dives into the artistry of Yucatecan embroidery.

Participants will explore two rare "puntadas de rescate" (rescued stitches)—Al revés Chuy and Xmolmiss—learning their cultural significance and mastering their techniques through hands-on sessions led by master artisans.

Whether you're a designer, textile enthusiast, or simply passionate about cultural heritage, this immersive workshop offers a rare glimpse into a centuries-old tradition and its place in modern fashion.

Highlights:

- Led by expert Mayan embroiderers including Blanca Itzá and Mildre Ramírez

- Hands-on instruction in traditional Mayan stitches

- Cultural insights into the symbolism and history of each technique

- Lunch and breaks included

- Limited capacity – early registration recommended!

Don’t miss this unique intersection of fashion, heritage, and storytelling.
