Step inside the magnificent lakefront home of Charles Gates Dawes—former U.S. Vice President, Ambassador to Great Britain, and Nobel Peace Prize winner. This **National Historic Landmark**, known as the Dawes House, is a beautifully preserved example of chateauesque architecture and a rare glimpse into Evanston’s storied past.
Originally built in 1894 and designed by New York architect Henry Edwards-Ficken, the 25-room mansion features a cherry-paneled library, vaulted dining room with a musicians’ gallery, twelve fireplaces, and six bedrooms—all set on two acres overlooking Lake Michigan.
